Jeff Babicz Builds His Acoustic Guitar

Jeff Babicz, inventor of the Babicz acoustic guitar demonstrates how he builds one of his handmade Signature Series guitars.

Jeff Babicz, right, discusses the benefits of his adjustable neck system during a luthiers seminar at the Healdsburg Guitar festival.

The photo essay below are images taken in Jeff's New York workshop and design studio, located in the Hudson Valley. Jeff, in collaboration with his client, designed this custom guitar using master grade, exotic tonewoods, which feature highly figured flitch matched Hawaiian Koa, top back and sides, along with ebony binding, fretboard, bridge & retainer appointments. This guitar also features a side Sound Port / Fishman Aura pickup system access. Note that this custom “small jumbo” body style is the exact pattern used when Jeff designed the now famous Identity Series Spider model.

The architecture and patented features of the Signature Series guitars are also found in the Identity Series acoustics…including the Continually Adjustable Neck, Torque Reducing Split Bridge and the visually striking Lateral Compression Soundboard.
